Where Y'at Magazine Captures Gold at Press Club Awards

Where Y'at Magazine won three Excellence in Journalism Awards at the Press Club of New Orleans Excellence in Journalism Awards Gala.

Members from broadcast, print, social, and new media, as well as public relations firms, ad agencies, and communication publications at local universities enjoyed an elegant reception followed by the announcements of the winners. WWL Radio morning show host Tommy Tucker brought his irreverent humor when serving as emcee of the evening.

The evening including Where Y'at photographer Romney Caruso winning a second consecutive photography award for his Best Portrait of Jazz living legend Charlie Gabriel.

Where Y'at writer Emily Hingle captured silver in the Best Serious Feature Reporting category with her exclusive "Love, Richard," a moving interview with the late Richard Simmons, which turned out to be his last live interview before the health-and-wellness celebrity's unexpected passing.

Press Club of New Orleans President Doug Mouton—who moonlights as the sports director at WWL-TV (the CBS affiliate in New Orleans)—welcomed attendees to The Cannery in Mid-City to reveal the winners of the club's annual Excellence in Journalism Awards, which recognizes journalism published, broadcast, or online through 2024.

Lifetime achievements awards were presented to WYES's Peggy Scott Laborde for her work as producer and on-air host of Steppin' Out —a staple on New Orleans TV now in it's 40th year. FOX-8's John Snell, an evening news anchor in New Orleans, also received an award. Beyond FOX-8, Snell has been a long-time presence in New Orleans broadcast news, also having worked at WWL and co-anchored with the late Nancy Parker on WVUE.

The Press Club of New Orleans awarded Where Y'at Magazine top spots in multiple categories, as well as placing in another at their annual Excellence in Journalism Awards:
