The fall is already exuding the spirit of giving. A
lot is going on in the city, and what it has to offer is sure to ease
everyone's minds.
PJ's Coffee of New Orleans is partnering with Ochsner
Health and Ochsner Cancer Institute's "All In Against Cancer" initiative to
raise money for medical treatment and new cancer therapies and research this
fall. PJ's Coffee customers from anywhere in the nation at participating
locations can support the fight against cancer through October 31.
Aside from this initiative, October 1 marked the first
day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From now until the end of the month, you
will most likely see many people wearing the color pink everywhere you go. Pink
is worn to honor the survivors, remember those who have died from the disease,
and support the progress made to defeat cancer.
"Ochsner Health's commitment to serving
compassionately, healing the sick, and innovating with a multidisciplinary
approach is vital to the greater Louisiana community and the Gulf South," Peter
Boylan, president of Ballard Brands, said. "PJ's Coffee is proud to support that
commitment by encouraging our customers to join us in going all in."
Patients have been cared for by the Ochsner Cancer
Institute from every state and from 28 countries at its cancer centers located
throughout the New Orleans region, St. Tammany Parish, Baton Rouge, Lafayette,
and North Louisiana. Ochsner serves more than 34,000 adult and pediatric cancer
patients every year.
"From our early tumor detection programs to offering
the largest clinical trials network in Louisiana, the Ochsner Cancer Institute
is committed to providing high quality cancer treatment here at home in
Louisiana. The lifesaving work we do each and every day is made possible thanks
to the support from strong community advocates who are "all in against cancer"
- just like Ochsner and just like PJ's Coffee," Brian Moore, MD, FACS, medical
director at Ochsner Cancer Institute, said.
When PJ's Coffee customers checkout, they can donate
$1, $3, or $5 to the All in Against Cancer campaign. There will be QR codes
linked to the donation fund throughout the stores that guests can access with
their mobile devices. Customers that donate have an opportunity to sign their
name or write a personal note on multi-colored ribbons—the designs embody the
different types of cancer.
During the month of October, PJ's will also have
exciting new seasonal, tastebud-bursting beverages, including the Pumpkin
Latte, Pumpkin Sweet Cold Foam, and S'mores Velvet Ice.
