Peaches: Breaking the 4th Wall
Saturday Night's sold out Peaches show at the House of Blues was a spectacle beyond words. This wasn't your typical rock and roll show, by any means. Nothing was left to the imagination as everything was out in the open to see--tactful but vulgar with a capital V.
The evening started out with New Orleans' very own cabaret puppet show act, Quintron & Miss Pussycat. They started of their set with the musical portion, chalked up with charm and wit and finished it off with a Puppet Show. Q&MP much like Peaches aren't afraid of breaking that imaginary 4th wall between the audience and performer, engaging them as they performed their puppet show. The show was a classic good vs evil story with the audience being the winner as they ALL got to open for Peaches. A neat side note was given out by Miss Pussycat when they hosted Peaches at their house for her 1st ever New Orleans show. It was nice full circle moment.
Merrill Nisker better know by her stage name Peaches hails from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her music is a mesh of rap, punk, and dance stylized as electroclash or electropunk. She was in town on her The Teaches of Peaches 20thAnniversary Tour, 22 years old to be persise, but like most all artist, the tour was supposed to be, was delayed due to covid. The set was that album front to back then an assortment of fan favorites, which includes two well staged, raunchy, and over the top encores. The thing about Peaches and her entourage is the fact that they know who they are and are comfortable with themselves to the point of the audience questioning what will happen next.
