New Orleans's own Piece of Meat butchery has been named one of the best new restaurants of 2019 by Food & Wine Magazine. Owners Leighann Smith and Daniel Jackson were left speechless this week as, what started as a pop-up meat shop, received national recognition as the 10th best new restaurant of the year.

The establishment falls into a hybrid category: mixing the classic concept of a butcher shop with a comfortable, sit-down restaurant feel. Whether it's slabs of meat stuffed into sandwiches, pushed into sausage rolls, or custom-cut to take back to the kitchen at home, Piece of Meat proudly delivers a delicious bite every time. Smith and Jackson's success has come from timeless dedication and a just a little bit of 'je ne sais quoi,' according to Food & Wine Magazine. Gaining some recognition as a butchery for numerous New Orleans sandwich shops, particularly the provider for Turkey and the Wolf's legendary fried bologna sandwich, this new restaurant has come a long way to see itself nationally ranked among other exciting new establishments.

Taking us away from the cramped charm of Uptown, Piece of Meat butchery and restaurant can be found on Bienville St. in Mid-City. Serving up sandwiches, sausages, and one of the juiciest boudin egg rolls in New Orleans, this restaurant is definitely the place to 'meat' up in 2019.
