On June 10, prominent New York City-based magazine Travel + Leisure announced that New Orleans placed second in their annual list of top American cities. Each year, Travel + Leisure readers rate cities based on qualities such as sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and overall value. Southern cities dominated the list, with 8 cities of the 15 residing below the Mason-Dixon line. New Orleans scored an enviable 85.71, just behind Charleston, South Carolina, which scored 87.79. This distinction is nothing to scoff at, as our city has placed 4th out of 15 for the past 4 years. Let’s keep this upward trend going! I think we’ve got what it takes to top out the list in 2019.
