In honor of the city’s tricentennial, Bergdorf Goodman, the renowned luxury department store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, dedicated window displays, the cover and main editorial of its magazine’s latest issue, and a special menu to celebrating New Orleans and all its style.
"The city of New Orleans is an incomparable subject: a city alive with sights, sounds and joie de vivre," says David Hoey, Bergdorf Goodman's Senior Director of Visual Presentation, who created the window installation.
This is the first time Bergdorf Goodman has dedicated all five of its Fifth Avenue windows to a tourism partner, proving the significance of our city’s richness and vibrancy. The windows depicted quintessential New Orleans experiences: festivals, music, cuisine, and architecture.
The magazine coverage highlights classic New Orleans spots, such as the French Quarter, Commander’s Palace, and the St. Louis Cathedral, and offers suggestions on places to stay, eat, and shop by creative director and Louisiana transplant Sara Ruffin Costello.
On top of all that, BG Restaurant created a special menu in partnership with most recent James Beard Best Chef South winner, Nina Compton. "I'm honored to represent New Orleans in the Big Apple and help celebrate 300 years of the beautiful city that I call home," said Nina Compton, chef/owner of Compere Lapin and Bywater American Bistro in New Orleans. The menu includes a specialty cocktail, a Shrimp Remoulade appetizer, two entrée choices incuding Baked Jerk Drum and Shrimp Ragu with Creamy Heirloom Grits, and Peach Bread Pudding for dessert.
Here’s to the influence of New Orleans extending cross-country and to yet another celebration of the city’s 300 years of beaucoup flavor and style!
