Historic Prytania Theatre Hosts Four Days of Acclaimed French Cinema

The New Orleans Film Society proudly announces the 28th Annual French Film Festival, one of the longest-running international language festivals in the United States, returning to the historic Prytania Theatre from March 13-16, 2025.

This beloved cultural event celebrates contemporary and classic Francophone cinema with a carefully curated selection of films from emerging talents and acclaimed auteurs across the French-speaking world, all presented in French with English subtitles.

This year's festival broadens its definition of French cinema to embrace the rich diversity of the Francophone world. Cinephiles can immerse themselves in a vibrant selection of films that explore French culture, history, and contemporary society through powerful storytelling and artistic expression.

The festival offers both an All-Access Pass option for devoted film enthusiasts and individual screening tickets, with special pricing available for New Orleans Film Society members. Beyond the screenings, attendees can participate in special events celebrating French culture and the art of filmmaking.

  • Vingt Dieux - An 18-year-old is thrust into an adult role of taking care of his sister and his family's farm after the death of his father.

  • Ma chère terre - An examination of the life of a Cajun musician, as well as the unique style of singing that Cajun musicians incorporate into their music.
