New Orleans Fitness Resolutions for 2018

New Year’s resolutions of joining a gym and being consistent in your workouts are always the most difficult to fulfill. Some find it boring to exercise alone or being confined to working out in the gym. Here are some ways to stay consistent, switch up your workout routine and get out of the gym.

Yoga in the Sculpture Garden
Every Saturday; 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. and Monday; 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.  
New Orleans Museum of Art

In partnership with East Jefferson Wellness Center, the New Orleans Museum offers yoga and Tai Chi classes. Classes are free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members and $5 for everyone class. To register, contact East Jefferson Healthfinder at (504) 456-5000.


Zumba Classes
Rosenwald Recreation Center
Every Monday through Jan. 22 – Feb. 26; 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

As a start to the new year, Footprints to Fitness provides the New Orleans community with a free 6-week Zumba class. The class will be taught by instructor Treva. B. All are welcomed and even kids too!


Fit NOLA Program
Various Locations

Local organizations are working with the City of New Orleans to create a healthier city through physical activity and better nutrition. The Fit NOLA Program offers a numerous amount of free classes, such as body sculpting and much more. Check out the calendar to see what works for you!

Need to relieve some stress and have some fun? Elmwood Fitness Center, Ochsner and New Orleans City Park have created just the thing for you. Be prepared to workout rain or shine. Classes are free and require no registration. Call 733-1600 for more information.


Yoga at the Cabildo
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

What better way to change up the scenery for your workout, than doing yoga in one of the city’s most finest and historical site. Don’t be discouraged, this class is for any level of practice. Purchase tickets online! Tickets are $10 per class for Friends of the Cabildo members and $15 for non-members.
