The New Orleans Film Festival announced its
closing night film and some spotlight films for the in-person portion of the
festival from October 16-22.
Conclave, directed by Edward
Berger, will be the closing night film. It stars Ralph Fiennes and Stanley
Tucci in a thriller about the selection of the next pope.
A Real Pain was written and
directed by Jesse Eisenberg, the star of The Social Network and Zombieland.
It tells the story of mismatched American cousins journeying through Poland in
an effort to honor their grandmother.
Blitz marks the return of
director Steve McQueen to the New Orleans Film Festival. McQueen's 12 Years
a Slave premiered at the New Orleans Film Festival before winning the Oscar
for Best Picture in 2013. Blitz stars Saoirse
Ronan (Lady Bird) in a story about life in London during the Blitz in
World War II.
Screenings will be held at the Broad
Theater, the Contemporary Art Center, and the Prytania Theater. All-access
passes are currently on sale. Members will be able to buy tickets on September
25. All other festival tickets will go on sale on October 2. The full film
schedule will be announced later this month.
