The tourism industry in New Orleans has been seeing an influx of visitors to the city now that vaccines are more widely available and restrictions are loosening. New Orleans has been operating at 100% capacity for a few weeks now and the hospitality and tourism industry needs more employees to welcome the incoming visitors to the city. New Orleans & Company is hosting a Job Fest to do just that.
Last month, New Orleans & Company hosted a Job Fest during National Travel and Tourism Week. This event featured 100 employers and of the 400 attendees, more than 230 left the fest with a new job. The hope with the upcoming fest is to replicate this experience and bring more individuals to the hospitality and tourism industry in New Orleans.
On Wednesday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., New Orleans & Company will host a Hospitality and Tourism Industry Job Fest at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This fest aims to connect employees with potential employers at various hotels, restaurants, and attractions in the New Orleans area. These businesses are offering employees "competitive wages, benefits, and lifelong career opportunities," according to the event's press release. There will even be interviews available with various hospitality professionals and New Orleans & Company's Senior Vice President of Communications and PR Kelly Schulz about career growth in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Those attending the job fest are asked to bring masks with them and to follow any COVID safety protocols required of the event. LCMC will be providing vaccines at the event as well, giving attendees who have yet to receive the COVID vaccine the opportunity to get the jab.
"As we emerge from the pandemic and see more visitors return to New Orleans, nothing is more important to the restoration of our economy and $10 billion-dollar-hospitality industry than finding talented people for job openings and keeping our community safe through vaccines," according to New Orleans & Company's press release.
To pre-register for the event, visit neworleans.com/jobs, though walk-ins are welcome as well. Parking for the fest is free in the Hilton Riverside's "Whale Lot."
