New
Orleans City Park earned a spot this month on Thrillist's
ranking of the "18 Best City Parks in America." With 1,300 acres of lush greenery, wildlife, attractions for all ages, and frequent sponsored events, it is no wonder that New Orleans's own City Park has been recognized for all that is has to offer.
Thrillist
lists some of the highlights of City Park in its
article, mentioning Storyland, Carousel Gardens, the Botanical Gardens, and the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). While kids can spend the afternoon wandering through Storyland, a world filled with larger-than-life sculptures taken from children's storybooks, adults
can leisurely stroll through the beautiful Botanical Gardens or admire the 40,000+ pieces that fill NOMA.
City Park has been an integral part of New Orleans for
decades-back in the day, functioning as a "spot for dueling Creole gentlemen to settle the score," says
Thrillist.
The article gives two new reasons to visit City Park
this summer: six acres of expansion on the NOMA Sculpture Garden and the grand opening of the Louisiana Children's Museum, encouraging everyone to "actually put down [their] Sazerac and leave the French Quarter." Also home to the world's largest population of live oak
trees-ranging from 750 to 900 years old-New Orleans City Park stands strong in this duly earned ranking.
