NOBA Pre-Professional Dance Program Auditions

The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) has announced the date of the NOBA Center for Dance Pre-Professional Dance Program's open auditions for ages 7 to 18.

Ages 7-12 will audition on August 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., and ages 12-18 will audition on August 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Callbacks and Placement Evaluation day will be on Saturday, August 12. Auditions will occur at Lyons Rec Center, 624 Louisiana Avenue.

Each child should have a parent or guardian present to check in 15 minutes before each audition session and to the placement/evaluation session.

This free program provides students with a passion for dance with knowledge and guidance in ballet, pointe, modern and repertoire. NOBA also offers workshops in other dance forms, such as hip-hop, jazz and West African dance, and chances to study with world-renowned artists through the Master Artist Series.

Those offered a position in the company will also perform in The Nutcracker Suite, an annual production hosted by the Center for Dance Pre-Professional Dance Program.

NOBA allows students to open up, gain discipline, and focus on the craft of dance while meeting professionals and growing as artists and young adults. The institution believes in accepting the best and most gifted in the New Orleans area.

Classes are held weekly from September 9, 2023, through May 19, 2024, at NORD partner locations throughout the New Orleans area and Tulane University's McWilliams Hall.

The teachers in the program are well-rounded and professionally acclaimed instructors from the area. These include former Dance Theatre of Harlem stars Christina Johnson, Vince Collins, Donald Williams and many more.

NOBA has been nationally recognized and awarded due to its multiple successful educational programs, labeled as NOLA's most inclusive and quality arts programs.

Giving over 5,500 kids tuition-free dance classes and workshops at 20 sites throughout the community.

The program also offers wellness and art healing classes for youth, adults and seniors ages 4-80+ and a Main Stage Series of world-class dance performances annually.

Registration will open on August 19 for the Fall 2023 semester of NOBA's Early Childhood, Preparatory, and Teen dance training programs for youth ages 4-18.
