Living in New Orleans, you get used to seeing outrageous people and attending funky events. However, nothing could be less subtle than the Naked Bike Ride that will take place in New Orleans on Saturday, June 9th beginning in Mickey Markey Park at 4 p.m. and winding its way down to the French Quarter. This year the "As Bare as you Dare" ride will be led by local burlesque dancer, Trixie Minx. The bike ride, which aims to promote cyclist safety and vulnerability is part of a world ride held in 74 countries and 24 cities around the globe. In addition, the bike ride encourages body awareness and sustainability. It is particularly important to New Orleans as this city is the 7th in the nation for cyclists.

The ride takes place on the same day as the annual Pride Parade which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the French Quarter. If you are in the area, make sure to attend both events to see both the colorfully decorated and painted bikes and their riders, and the equally flamboyant marchers in the LGBTQ+ Pride Parade. Make sure to check out the New Orleans riders facebook page: facebook.com/groups/wnbrnola for additional information.
