The Claire Elizabeth Gallery, located at 131 Decatur Street, will be opening a new exhibition entitled Muses & Musicians. There will be an opening reception Saturday, May 14 from 6-8 p.m. The exhibition will be on display from May 12 – June 23, 2016.
The exhibition features works by Southern artists Jason Kruppa, Garrett Haab, Briana Catarino and Lela Brunet. It incorporates photography sculpture, works on paper, and mixed media works to convey its purpose.
Drawing meaning from its namesake, it explores the relationship between those that inspire and those that create. A muse is known as a representation of an idealized woman who inspires works of art. Muses are sometimes depicted as the embodiment of poetry and song. The goal of Muses and Musicians is to present the viewer with artistic representations of Muses - the personification of the arts and beauty in the female form, alongside those of Musicians - the disseminators of creativity in song.
