We just passed the middle of the month! And things are just now ramping up for the cultural and Halloween season.

Thursday Big Deal Burlesque performs their monthly tease at Siberia, but with the addition of the live instrumental surf rock band The Unnaturals. The show is from 8 to 10 p.m. and costs $10. Immediately after the ladies leave the stage, a metal show will begin featuring local bands Donkey Puncher and Six Pack and the Iraqi group Acrassicauda. This Middle Eastern metal band became well known from the 2010 documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad in which they described the mortal trouble they could be in simply for wearing band t-shirts. This show also costs $10 and begins at 10 p.m.

Where Y’at is celebrating our 15th anniversary with a party at Harrah’s Masquerade from 7-9 p.m.. Marc Broussard will be performing in the theater at 9 p.m. for the occasion. Everyone who attends the Where Y’at Party beforehand will be entered to win tickets to the show. You can also purchase tickets here.

This week at the Deutsches Haus’ Oktoberfest in Rivertown, Kenner, the Weenie Dog Races will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the midst of all the other great activities and beer drinking. This is their second weekend of the three week fest, so come out if you haven’t yet. P.J.’s Coffee is celebrating an anniversary as well; it’s their 35th year in business. The P.J.’s crew will be at their first location on Maple Street with their new brew called Roast 35. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. at 7624 Maple St. and features live music by Glen David Andrews.

The Anba Dlo Halloween Festival will hold its sixth annual party at the New Orleans Healing Center beginning at noon and lasting until the wee hours of the morn. Come costumed and ready to dance to Rotary Downs, Henry Butler, the New Orleans Suspects, and many more. Tickets are $20 at the door. Nearby at Siberia, Pallbearers, Classhole, Fat Stupid Ugly People and more perform at 10 p.m. for $5.

The House of Blues is hosting Music Choice’s free concert featuring Karmin and Sean Kingston. Tickets were made available to college students through an earlier sweepstakes, but you can enter to receive one of their limited tickets here.

Rifftrax Live! is back at Elmwood Theater beaming in from New York, and this time, they’re bringing the undead. The masters behind Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be doing live commentary on the original Night of the Living Dead at 7 p.m. These events tend to sell out, so buy your tickets now here. Or you can be entertained by the lovely “ladies” of Las Vegas on the opening night DIVAS: Female Impersonators at Harrah’s Theater at 7 p.m.
