Mayor LaToya Cantrell reminds New Orleanians of the need for them to cover their faces while in public. At a press conference last week, she emphasized that wearing masks when conducting essential business is not optional but mandatory and critical to slowing the spread of the coronavirus. According to Cantrell, it is crucial for all residents to comply with this order, regardless of whether they feel sick, as data suggests that many individuals are asymptomatic. It is especially crucialfor grocery store employees, pharmacy clerks, and other essential workers to do so, as their jobs require them to be in close contact with others.

Essential businesses may request masks for their employees via sewdat.com, which has received 150,000 cloth coverings from Hanes and hundreds of others fromdonors nationwide. They should avoidbuying medical-grade masks, however, as they are in minimal supply and provide critical protection for medical personnel who are most exposed to infection.
