There is no shortage of good coffee chains, but PJ's Coffee is a favorite throughout
South Louisiana. The newest PJ's Coffee shop was opened in Covington a few weeks
ago, with their grand opening event taking place last Friday. Franchisee Barry
Prendergast owns three addition PJ's Coffee locations, but this will be the
first store that features a double drive-thru.
The idea behind the double drive-thru has been featured in
many restaurants, but with it being one of the only ways that people can get
takeout, wait times have increased dramatically. The double drive is one of the
ways that many restaurants are cutting down wait times for customers in line.
PJ's Coffee President Peter Boylan mentioned, "We've seen an increase in
drive-thru traffic in the last six months, and the double drive-thru at our
newest store is a great option for our customers who want quick service and
great coffee without having to step outside their vehicle." This new location
also features fall food and drinks that the Covington customers can enjoy, including
pumpkin and golden lattes, a Cinnamon Spice Velvet Ice, and even a maple waffle
sausage sandwich. These temporary menu items will be available through October
31.
PJ's has been a pioneer in the coffee industry since it was
founded in 1978 by Phyllis Jordan. The company was sold in 2008 to New Orleans
natives and brothers Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. PJ's Coffee serves an
extensive selection of hot, iced, and frozen coffee drinks, along with teas and
breakfast items. The coffee is sold in their locations and online, in whole-bean,
single-serve cups, as well as iced coffee concentrate. PJ's Original Cold Brew is
brewed daily, using a cold-drip process that secures the strength of the beans
while being over two thirds less acidic.
