22 year old New Orleans hip-hop artist Lyriqs da Lyraciss releases his twelve track sophomore effort, Dream As If You’ll Live Forever, conveniently shortened to D.A.I.Y.L.F. Recording and performing since 2009, Lyriqs has grown a lot in both his sound and direction. It took him four years to release his debut album, The Nobody Monologues 2 in 2012, garnering him local attention from hip-hop heavyweights such as Truth Universal and outward attention from Bronx, NYC emcee Mickey Factz. Factz has since taken Lyriqs under his wing, touring with him last year, mentoring him in the business, and even hosting duties on D.A.I.Y.L.F. D.A.I.Y.L.F. begins with “ComaTose,” a spacey introduction including an updated rhyme-scheme and a couple of bells and whistles. It could be due to the fact that Lyriqs began at a young age and is growing up before us, but his voice is decidedly deeper, more laid-back and confident. This is especially evident on the album’s eponymous second track, produced by well-known NOLA studio, CrescentKingz. The song has an industry feel, and its obvious Lyriqs is appealing beyond the border of the Big Easy with the message.
