Louisiana is Apparently the 10th Most Gambling-Addicted State in U.S.

With the Kentucky Derby right around the corner, WalletHub released their 2019 study of the states with the most gambling-addicted states. Although gambling disorder, defined by the Mayo Clinic as a stimulation of the brain’s reward system, similar to the use of drugs and alcohol, that can lead to addiction.

Louisiana comes in at number 10 of the United States most gambling-addicted states, according to the WalletHub study. The study compared all 50 states using 20 different key metrics, including the amount of gambling machines, lottery tickets bought per capita, and amount of adults with gambling addictions per state.

Louisiana has the 13th most casinos per capita, the 7th most gambling machines per capita, 11th most gambling-related arrests per capita and the 4th most commercial casino revenues per capita, according to the study.
