Almost three weeks after announcing a temporary closure due to the pandemic, halting even delivery and to-go options, the Link Restaurant Group is back in the game, though they have not been idle. Since March 28th the philanthropic restaurant group, in partnership with Maker's Mark and The LEE Initiative, has been serving a "Restaurant Workers Relief Program" menu offering free meals like BBQ pulled pork and sprouts, pastrami with cabbage and potatoes and green curry with beef to all local restaurant employees in need.
Announced today, Cochon Butcher and La Boulangerie are offering food for the general public once again through local service D' LiveryNOLA and curbside pickup. "Being able to support our staff by providing employment and offering a sense of normalcy for our community is important to all of us," said Chef Donald Link. "We hope that reopening these outlets is just the start of the larger picture for our future where we can all meet up around the table and share a meal together."
At Cochon Butcher, many of the usual suspects are available from chicken and andouille gumbo to mac 'n' cheese and crawfish pie. Popular sandwiches like the Cochon Muffuletta with house-cured meats and the "Le Pig Mac" with all-pork patties are still in the offing, with the addition of "family meals" large enough to feed four such as Gianna's ready-to-bake lasagna or family chicken and dumplings. The to-go menu also lists butcher meats available from bacon and mortadella to boudin, as well as a nice list of sodas, beers and wines.
Uptown bakery La Boulangerie has its own menu featuring favorites from the pastry case, everything from chocolate chip cookies and croissants to bread pudding and even daily pizzas. Guests can also order freshly-baked breads including sourdough, baguettes, and six grain; or they can opt for ready-made sandwiches like chicken salad, grilled cheese, or "Le Parisien" a.k.a ham and brie on a baguette.
