Fat Tuesday is less than a week away; Carnival is officially on. Between your parties and parades, consider celebrating this season with some new friends at shows around town.

Another installment of the interactive and addictive Clue: A Burlesque Mystery goes on at Allways Lounge on Thursday night at 11 p.m. for $15, which includes one drink. Play along and solve the crime of who killed Mr. Bawdy to win actual prizes.

If you just need some more burlesque in your life (don’t we all?), Ruby Rage’s Whiskey Rockette’s Burlesque Revue called The Good, The Bad, and The Glittery at Chickie Wah Wah at 11 p.m. on Friday evening. Not only will you eyes be filled with country cuties taking it almost all off, your ears will be filled with the sweet sounds of Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue. The purple, green, and gold will be painted black at Siberia with Absu, The Black Moriah, Abysmal Lord, and Barghest at 10 p.m. for $12.

After you see the zombie-killing badass Norman Reedus roll down the street in Endymion, the good times are rolling at Le Bon Temps Roule! And their bringing you a foodie’s dream show with Gravy Flavored Kisses, Strange Roux, and Daria & the Hip Drops at 10 p.m.

It’s not Lent yet, and you can afford to stay on the dark side. After Bacchus, might I suggest Spitfire’s Haunted Carnival: The New Orleans Mardi Gras Dark Dance Event on Sunday night at 9 for free? Attrition and Shadow Gallery will not leave you disappointed by the selection of dark industrial and goth tunes.

Checkpoint Charlie’s is having a huge Lundi Gras bash all for free featuring The Unnaturals, Ese, Die Rotzz, Emerald Heavy and Mr. Blank’s Weird & Wandering Sideshow. This large lineup begins at 8 p.m. and I can’t imagine when it would all finish.

On the big night itself, you can’t get more traditional than Hi Ho Lounge’s Mardi Gras Day Super Brass Band Blowout. This mega show featuring Most Wanted, Street Legends, Pinettes, Panorama, and almost every other brass band you can imagine begins at 2 p.m. on Mardi Gras day and shows no signs of stopping for many hours after.
