I hope that you had a restful weekend because this week is the beginning of the big fests of Spring.

Dat Dog is holding the grand opening of their 3336 Magazine Street locationon Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. Councilmember Latoya Cantrell will be there to cut the ribbon. Attendees are invited to sample the fare and enjoy complimentary draft beers.

Friends of Alison Pitcher are coming togetheron Thursday night at the NOLA Spaces on 1719 Toledano Street to hold a benefit to pay for her final expenses. Live music will be provided by Clockwork Elvis, Johnny Angel, Ingrid Lucia, Gal Holiday and many more.

There is nothing better than a free fest for this Budgeter. The 30th annual French Quarter Fest is four days of local music spread on stages throughout the French Quarter and surrounded by food vendors. Yes, I've already planned what I'm getting to eat as well as the acts I want to see. I definitely want to check out the discussions and musician interviews at the U.S. Mint and Time Code NOLA's Film Festival. It will also be a nice break from the heat. You can see the entire festival schedule at here.

There are also going to be many fantastic night shows around town this weekend, but choices will have to be made.On Saturday night, three clubs on St. Claude Avenue have shows that will wage war against each other. At the Hi Ho Lounge, the Slow Burn Burlesque ladies are dancing along with the Russian rhythms of Debauche at10 p.m. for $12. Across the street at the Allways Lounge, you'll be dazzled by the aeralists and pole dancers including Bella Blue, The Lady Satine, and Oops the Clown as they fly through the air and look very sexy doing it at 10 p.m. And finally at Siberia, Memphis thrashers Evil Army come back to town after a long hiatus and plays with our locals Classhole, Demonic Destruction, and more at 10 p.m. for $10. If you'd rather stay downtown, you can catch Coyotes, Rotary Downs, and the Kid Carsons at One Eyed Jacks at 10 p.m. for $10.
