Show Me Where The Edge Is...

Ben Strano as 'The Sonic Fedora'

Kristen Cothron's album, Show Me Where the Edge Is, delivers twelve tracks that bring the listener right to the edge of genres that maybe normally do not interact with each other, but work for this Nashville product.  She approaches an Adele-type of pop music with a mix of blues, funk/soul, jazz, and Elvis Costello command.  Her songs that are comprised of lyrics stained with sweat, hardship, and heartbreak take little effort to enjoy.  There is a sultry and salty tone to her music; she sings with a vocal range to humble you, draw you in and break you down.   She is not on the fringe of modern jazz and seductive female vocalists because she does not fit in, but because she is the type of talent that can push the genre back into the attention of the public.
