Basin Street Records There is nothing more traditional to New Orleans than partyin', and Kermit Ruffi ns' latest album, We Partyin' Traditional Style, is just that: one big party. Famously known for his traditional New Orleans Storyville-style jazz, the trumpeter has a way of surrounding himself with some of the best musicians in the industry. Riding along on this amazing album, Ruffi ns is accompanied by Shannon Powell (drums), Tom Fisher (clarinet), Steve Pistorius (piano), Lucien Barbarin (trombone), Don Vappie (banjo), and Richard Moten (bass). His deeply rooted passion for the city that created him and the music he learned to love as a youth keeps him in a constant mind of music. When it comes to We Partyin' Traditional Style, Ruffi n refl ects tradition. The album is a captivating gathering of classics and New Orleans jazz standards, combined in a fashion that could only be hosted by Ruffi ns. With nothing less than admiration, the Treme superstar produced We Partyin' Traditional Style to pay homage to those who infl uenced and inspired him the most. This album is exceptional, fi lled with some of the most recognized timeless classics that have been sung by many rousing musicians. On the album, you can hear gorgeous tracks like "All of Me," a song that has been sung by many greats, from New Orleans-born Louis Armstrong to the one they call Lady Day: Ms. Billie Holiday.
