Last week, I was invited to check out the hottest dining experience in town: Dinner Lab! The fine dining club brings together abnormal locations (we dined in a motorcycle store) and high end local chefs to people hungry for a one-of-a-kind experience. The Colombian dinner I had was fantastic. You can learn more about the amazing club here. The dog days of summer will soon be upon us, although we are already feeling the heat. Events are slowing down to match the season, but there is always something to do. This week, you can be a part of a national show, say goodbye to a concert series, and say hello to woodland creatures.

Today and Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday, you can attend FOX’s X Factor auditions live at UNO’s Lakefront Arena for free! You have four chances to go: Tuesday at 1 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. and Wednesday at the same times. You will be joining judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and Paulina Rubio as they pass or reject hopeful contestants. You can get your free tickets here

Thursday is the final Jazz in the Park; a free concert series in Armstrong Park. If you’ve missed the other shows this season, this final show featuring Kermit Ruffins and Mike Baptiste beginning at 5 p.m. The event is free. There is a vendor market with fresh and prepared foods and handmade crafts beginning at 3 p.m. You'll definitely be able to check out RAW: NOLA's showcase Kaleidoscope at the Eiffel Society. There will be a smorgasbord of music, art, fashion and style for you to experience for just $15 at the door, which opens at 7 p.m.

This month’s Green Screen by the Green Project will be in a different location due to a partnership with the New Orleans Eat Local Challenge. Come see the film Ingredients about the nationwide local food movement at the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center on Oretha C. Haley Blvd. at 7 p.m. and enjoy some local food and beverages. The film will be shown on their outdoor patio! The film is free.

Sunday is Father’s Day, and if you are celebrating your dad, I suggest taking him to any Zea’s location. He will receive a set of four beers brewed by Zea’s for free. Later that night, Buster Britches will be the emcee on a dark burlesque show featuring local ladies like Bella Blue, Roxie Le Rouge, and Gogo McGregor entitled Buster’s Haunted Stage Show Presents: The Deep South Creepshow. There’s a whole lot of entertainment for only $7, $5 if you’re in costume. The performance begins at 8 p.m. at Siberia. And throw on your fairy wings leftover from Renaissance Festival and attend A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 10 p.m. Shadow Gallery has been throwing the annual fairy fest for many years and it never disappoint. There will be prizes for costumes and perfumes by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. The party is free for all fairies.
