Summer hits its peak with this year’s 4th of July celebration. Honor the U.S. and be amazed by an intense fireworks show at the 24th annual “Go 4th on the River.” An extravagant event beginning at 9 p.m., the mind-blowing fireworks display will take place on the riverfront to salute America’s independence. This free fireworks display will be set to a soundtrack for all viewers to enjoy, so be sure to bring along a radio to listen in.


Makeup and Martini Mixer II: The Essence Edition

Saturday, July 5; 1 p.m.

In the spirit of this weekend’s Essence Festival, the 2nd annual Makeup and Martini Mixer II: The Essence Edition gives ladies the opportunity to kick back with some girlfriends and enjoy a night of cocktails and glamour. Featuring beauty tutorials, makeup applications, professional photo shoots, live entertainment and more, participants will have a number of fun happenings to choose from. Tickets range from $50 - $100 and include open bar access of Martinis to sip on throughout the event.

New Orleans popular Maple Leaf Bar will be hosting a special Sunday afternoon poetry open mic session. Known for its incredible live music performances each night, the Maple Leaf will be offering a fun and mellow alternative to end the weekend. Featuring original pieces of poetry, short stories, and other literary works, the open session offers artists and writers a glimpse into the spotlight. The event occurs each Sunday at 3 p.m. for NOLA’s literary enthusiasts to enjoy.
