L'Auberge Chocolate Sculpture - L'Auberge Chocolate Sculpture

I had such an amazing time at the L'Auberge casino and hotel in Lake Charles Thursday night. The place was packed with people enjoying the live music, rich food, and, of course, the gambling. I can't wait to see the new one in Baton Rouge very soon and get to see the great concerts there. I'll keep you posted! Also, have a Happy 4th of July this Wednesday! After celebrating our nation's independence, there's still a lot going on.

Thursday is the last night to see the movie Hick at the Zeitgeist Center on Oretha C. Haley Blvd. The film portrays a young girl heading out to Las Vegas to find a sugar daddy and meets some interesting characters along the way. The cast includes Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin and Blake Lively. The screening is at 8 p.m. for $8.

There are three shows on Friday that are close by each other, so I think I'll have to hop between them. Blackened death metal band Necrotic Priapism is hosting their CD release show at Checkpoint Charlie's with Ruiniverse, Entrenched Defilement, Chronic Death Slug, and more for free beginning at 10 p.m. It's going to get slow and sludgy at Siberia when Order of the Owl headlines a show with Black Tar Prophet, Endall, and Dazein at 10 p.m. for $7. And across the street at Allways Lounge is Freaksheaux to Geaux's Harlequins, Harlots, and Harbingers of Doom performance featuring Little Luna, Mistress Kali, and Bella Blue fresh from Switzerland plus many more. The show begins at 11 p.m. and cover is $10.

The Reds take over Siberia on Saturday night. But fear not; the Consortium of Genius is here to save democracy! C.O.G. will battle their enemy Commie Hilfiger beginning at 9 p.m. with rollicking live music, jokes, costumes, and a storyline. To bring the audience into the fight, there will be a best villain costume contest and best Red Dawn "Wolverines!" scream competition. The cover is $7. You can also check out Fat Camp and The Unnaturals at Checkpoint Charlie's at 10 p.m. for a taste of what Creepy Fest next weekend will be like.

The metal goes until Monday night. Thrash band Machinage will travel all the way from Brazil to play with local bands Demonic Destruction and Totenbott for just $5 at 10 p.m.
