Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) is calling all performers to the New Orleans' centerstage! JPAS' 45th Season's open auditions are to be held from June 17 through June 26, with dance callbacks through July 1 by invitation.
For decades, the Jefferson Performing Arts Society has worked to cultivate a rich culture of expression, understanding, and education in the Greater New Orleans' area through the act of theater performance and appreciation. JPAS works with both amateurs and professionals to provide key artistic outlets to share their love of the theater with the community, while simultaneously contributing to Jefferson Parish and New Orleans' economic vitality.
With incredible past shows, like the dazzling Cinderella or the twisted Deathtrap, JPAS never fails to offer a vast array of musicals and plays, and this season is no exception. Auditions are open for Sweet Potato Queens, In the Heights, Holiday Inn, Sistas the Musical, and Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, with showings beginning in September and rotating until May at both the Jefferson Performing Arts Center and the Teatro Wego.
Performers who are 16 years of age or older are invited to browse the character descriptions for each upcoming show and audition for one or all! Auditions are offered in person by appointment, but JPAS will be accepting video submissionsfrom now until June 13, as well. Performers can sign up for the first round of in-person auditions for Sweet Potato Queensand In the Heights here, taking place from June 17 until June 19. The second round of in-person auditions will take place June 24 through 26 for Holiday Inn, Sistas the Musical, and Carousel, and those who would like to try out can sign up here!
Performers are asked to provide a headshot and resume with their auditions and to prepare a vocal musical selection of 32 bars, along with a 60 second monologue, to best highlight their theatrical abilities.
