Jazz Museum Improvisations Gala Promotes Holiday Merrymaking Six Feet Apart

Saturday night, December 5, the New Orleans Jazz Museum presented their Improvisations Gala 2020. Although this was the third annual rendition of this event, it was the first socially distanced version. The gala took place outdoors, with chairs spaced apart on the lawn, temperature checks at entry, masks required, strict capacity restrictions, and no alcohol served—so that guests wouldn't get reckless about following the various guidelines. Live music was presented by such artists as Bonerama, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Big Freedia, and the event was livestreamed on Facebook for those who preferred to keep an even larger distance. Additional holiday cheer came in the form of YaKaMein from Linda the YaKaMein Lady herself, gumbo, and Christmasy mocktails, such as Dede's Jingle-Jangle Punch and Wickedly Warm Spiced Cider.
