The lineup and dates for Hogs for a Cause was released this past weekend, and I’m already looking forward to it. But, as the Mardi Gras season keeps on coming, my favorite new parade is coming up, as well as their incredibly fun after-party. Decisions will have to be made.

There are a few fun parties on Friday night. Some are musical, some are visual, but all look good to me. Southport Hall is hosting the Fat City Reunion Show featuring Rise Laveau, Southern Whiskey Rebellion, Ashes to Dust, and Routine Fiend at 9 p.m. for $10. The Krewe of the Living Dead, P.U.E.W.C. and other sub-krewes rolling in Chewbaccus this weekend are having a kick-off party at the Big Top. All ages are welcome and the cover is $8, or $5 if you wear a costume. The lineup includes The Split Lips, The Bills and more. The fun begins at 8 p.m. The Storyville Starlettes Burlesque Troupe is stripping their way through their popular show called Horrible Histories in which they will reenact some bad times from long ago. Think of a sexy Spanish Inquisition. The show begins at 10 p.m. You can catch some of that show before crossing the street to help Bella Blue celebrate her birthday at the Allways Lounge. The show begins at midnight and will be themed after the film The Labyrinth, which is one of Bella’s favorite movies with one of her most beloved artists, David Bowie. Tickets are $15.

Put on your sci-fi finest for the Chewbaccus Parade which rolls on Saturday night. The krewe will walk through the Bywater, Marigny, French Qaurter and back again, and end at the Chewbacchanal. You can see the route here. The Chewbacchanal is at the NOLA Habitat for Humanity ReStore Building located at 2900 Elysian Fields, and live music will be provided by Alex McMurray, Dead Music Capital Brass Band and more beginning at 10 p.m. The cover is $15, or $10 in costume. The krewe also provided a taxi stand for those who have too much fun. Siberia is hosting a slightly more low-key show featuring country-blues artist Rachel Brooke for $6 at 10 p.m. If you’re on the other side of town, you can check out 4 Mag Nitrous, Devil’s Rain, and Wreckage Revival at Hangar 13 at 10 p.m.

It doesn’t stop for Sunday as the heavy blues band Midnight Ghost Train rolls in to Siberia along with Lark’s Tongue and local rockers Endall. Cover is $7 and the show starts at 10 p.m.
