Feast of San Giuseppe
International House put on their 28th annual Feast of San Giuseppe with a multicultural event that fused Italian, African, and totally New Orleans traditions.
Guardians of the Flame Mardi Gras Indian children, presented by Queen Cherice Harrison-Nelson, began the event with a wonderful spiritual ritual with vivacious drumming, in which the torch was passed to the next generation. Over expertly-crafted limoncello cocktails, a panel of judges chose which locally-made limoncello was the spirit of the night. Host Poppy Tooker led the judges through five limoncellos made by the hotel's Loa Bar staff, as well as the chefs of Vincent's, TANA, Osteria Lupo, Italian Barrel.
Chef Michael Gulotta took home the top prize, but it was a close call between each distinct spirit.
