Budweiser and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation have announced that their annual event, the Horses, Hops & Cops fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, February 8. The event will be held at the N.O.P.D. horse stables located at 1021 Harrison Avenue in New Orleans City Park from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and is free to attend.
"The Mounted Unit is a huge crime-fighting asset to the NOPD and an integral part of our world-renowned crowd control efforts. We are so thankful to the many sponsors and citizens who have supported the Unit over the years," said Superintendent Michelle Woodfork.
Attendees will be able to meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales and take self-guided tours of the horse stables. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a live equestrian soccer game at 5:30 p.m. featuring members of the N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit and the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office. The musical guest will be The Wiseguys and they will be performing on the Budweiser stage. The event will also feature handmade gifts from art vendors, kids activities, food and beverages for sale plus the opportunity to have professional photos taken with the Budweiser Clydesdale horses.
There will also be a raffle that will benefit the N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit. Prizes include two passes to parade with the Krewe of Argus on Mardi Gras Day and ride on the Budweiser Clydesdales Wagon (winner and guest must be 21 or older) as well as a pair of tickets to a Saenger Theater show with limousine transportation from American Luxury Limousines. The event will also offer a limited amount of VIP Experience tickets which can be purchased on the same website. VIP Experience ticket holders will get to go on a one-hour guided tour behind the scenes with a Budweiser Clydesdale handler to learn about the horses, their special training, state-of-the-art transportation, and more. They will also get to go on a tour of the N.O.P.D. stables and watch a K9 police dog demonstration.
