Come join Kingfish Kitchen & Cocktails (337 Chartres St.) for their 6th Annual Huey P. Long Look-alike Contest on Saturday, August 25, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This year, the event takes place during brunch—the perfect time for a refreshing summer cocktail like the Ramos Gin Fizz, the New Orleans cocktail made famous by Long himself, which will be priced at $8.30 in honor of his birthday, August 30.

The meal features is a 3-course, 1920s-inspired menu at $29. The appetizers include both the Waldorf salad (created in 1893, Huey’s birth year) or a chilled corn soup.

Entrées include Eggs Sardou, Almond Pain Perdu, or New Orleans BBQ Shrimp and Grits. Birthday cake and Creole cream cheese ice cream will be served for dessert.

John “Spud” McConnell, the actor who portrayed the Louisiana legend in an off-broadway run of Kingfish: The Life and Times of Huey P. Long, will return to provide entertainment, accompanied by a jazz band that will play throughout the meal.

This year, men and women are invited to don their best Huey Long-era garb and post a picture on Instagram for the chance to win the Best Dressed award. The winner of this contest will be rewarded a $100 gift card. The winner of the look-alike contest will also receive a $100 gift card.
