The underground music scene has been mourning the loss of "New Orleans Metro King" Hollise Murphy over the weekend. Murphy died Friday, July 30, at the age of 36, leaving behind friends, family, and fans from all over the world. Some of these people were so touched by his life and loss that they created a GoFundMe to ease the funeral costs on Murphy's family.

The GoFundMe was created by Dominic Bischone and Sarah Hester, the two noting what a privilege it was to have met and known Murphy. According to the GoFundMe's description, Murphy's reach went far and wide, from NOLA to LA and NYC to places across the world like Amsterdam.

"He could not only light up a room but also gave nothing but words of encouragement to those close to him," according to the GoFundMe description.

The GoFundMe for the "Crowned King of the New Orleans Underground" has a goal of $50,000 and has already raised more than $47,000 in the three days since it was created. Along with their donations, many had kind words to offer about Hollise.

"One of, if not the most, kind hearted, positive, special person I've ever known. There's no question why so many people loved him," one commenter said.

"Such an extremely sad loss for the city. There will forever be a massive void in mosh pits as well our hearts," another said.
