Galatoire's Gives Back

By: Caroline Glattly

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response in the past few years, Galatoire's Restaurant is proud to announce that they will be 7 nonprofits chosen as beneficiaries for this year's Christmas and Mardi Gras Table Auctions. In the past, only two nonprofits have been chosen.

"The last few years the auctions have been so huge, it's created the opportunity to reach more people. This year we decided to share the money raised among seven total beneficiaries," said Melvin Rodrigue, Galatoire Foundation President, adding, "Each is deserving of these funds, which our loyal customers are always so gracious to bestow. We're excited to expand our reach in the New Orleans community with the addition of the five grant recipients this year.

"The two "Auction Partners" will include the non-profits Roots of Music and Junior Achievement. The additional "Grant Recipients" include
Big Sky Ranch, Girls on the Run, Giving Hope, Bridge House/Grace House and the New Orleans Ballet Association.

Since 2016, Galatoire's has been hosting its Christmas table auction to support local nonprofit organizations and has amassed over 2.2 million dollars in donations for local charities. Past organizations have included neighborhood rebuilding projects, entrepreneurship efforts and
youth programs.

The auction gives attendees the unique opportunity to reserve a table on the first floor of Galatoire's on the busiest night of the year - the Friday before Christmas. Tickets are $50 per two individuals.

"Two times a year 162 seats get auctioned off," says Rodrigue. "As a foundation and as a restaurant, we do our very best to make the charities timely and about things that are important in the community. We are pleased to have this year's auctions benefit a variety of wonderful organizations that make our local community the very best it can be."
