While working and living at home, it can be hard to stay fit. But exercise can help you alleviate stress, provide a distraction, and get rid of some of those quarantine pounds. If you want to get up off the couch and turn off Netflix and Zoom for a while, below are five local resources on how to engage in healthy exercise, virtually.

Livestream Cardio Blast

This free event hosted by Footprints to Fitness is this Friday, July 24, from 10 - 10:30 a.m. The class is for all levels and provides an excellent cardio workout, so you can start your day with this virtual event, no matter how fit—or out-of-shape—you are. "Four Weeks of Movement" Course With Wild Lotus Yoga

This yoga class is great for those new to yoga or those looking to reconnect with the activity. It begins Monday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m. and lasts until 7:45 p.m. The costs are set on a sliding scale, based on your means. Live FitNOLA Hip-Hop Cardio Class

Love hip hop and want to have abs like Cardi B's? Get in the groove with this class, presented by the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission via Zoom. Absolute Beginner Tap Class

It's not too late to pick up a new quarantine skill. Learn to tap dance in this livestream lesson put on for those who have never, ever done it before. You'll be Broadway-ready in no time! The class is held Tuesdays from 7 - 7:45 via Zoom, and you can go to heiditaps.com for more information on how to register.

Dancing Grounds

This Bywater dance school is offering a multitude of free dance classes including Bounce 'n Line, Afro-Brazilian, Beginner Ballet, Jazz Funk, and so many more, via their Facebook page.
