Why Have a Sober Festival?

The Sober Festival has a goal to create a place where sobriety can not only be viewed as possible, but it can also be fun. The first ever alcohol free festival in New Orleans is sponsored by Bridge House/Grace House. Bridge House/ Grace House believes that having access to entertainment in safe environments is key to keeping those in recovery in sobriety. All funds raised by the festival will be donated directly to Bridge House/ Grace Houses's mission of providing access to treatment at no cost to those seeking it.

The Music

Dumpstaphunk is a legendary group here in New Orleans. With two members being descendants of the Neville brothers, one can be assured that this band knows how to get down and encourage the crowd to do the same. Their sound takes the funk tradition of Funkadelic and the Meters, and blends it with a captivating, rock attitude that makes for a show that the audience cannot pull themselves away from. The lineup also includes the grammy nominated group Cha Wa, Camile Baudoin, and The Trombone Shorty Academy Brass Band.

Dumpstaphunk Reputation

Dumpstaphunk has a resume so long that you can use it to clean all the funk off you after their show. They've played almost New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest for nearly the past 20 years, and even played their first show there. They also recently finished a U.S tour with Trombone Shorty and his Soul Rebels, Big Freedia, the Soul Rebels, and Tank and Banga. They've also been joined on stage with numerous legendary players like Bob Weir, Carlos Santana, and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Attending the Festival

Sober Fest is free off charge, however those planning to attend are encouraged to register beforehand. Besides great music, the festival will offer great food, mocktails, and more. All proceeds from food and beverage sales will go directly towards Bridge House/ Grace House recovery programs. At the Festival there will also be a kids tent with games and activities for young attendees. The Festival will be taking place at Mardi Gras World's River City Plaza on November 12.
