An Uber driver woke up to the unexpected one crazy morning in New York. Uber driver, Corey Robinson, 43 decided to let his passenger Juan Carlos, 20 drive his car early that morning because he was too tired to drive. What's the worse that could happen right? Well the worse did indeed happen when Robinson woke up and realized he was now in the middle of a police chase with Carlos!
Ironically, the New York Police were monitoring traffic on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood, N.Y., a town near the Pennsylvania border, when a 2016 Hyundai Sonata went by at 86 miles per hour, the police said. Troopers attempted to stop the car, but it sped up and they eventually lost sight of it.
After realizing that Carlos was driving faster than the speed limit, Robinson then demanded to take the wheel. Carlos refused Robinson's demands and the car chase resulted in the car crashing into a guard rail.
Luckily, Robinson was let go after being treated for minor injuries. Carlos on the other hand, was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, driving without a license and several other traffic violations, the police said.
Uber said in a statement on Wednesday that both the driver and the rider had been suspended from using the service, and that the company was “reaching out to the authorities to assist in their investigation.”
