It's going down this fall, New Orleans! But you'd have to go up to see what all the hype is about, up on Virgin Hotels New Orleans' 13th floor to be exact.
Open to hotel guests, visitors, and locals are two new rooftop spaces, The Pool Club and Dreamboat. Both spots, located on 550 Baronne St., have a great backdrop with an even better view of downtown New Orleans. Everyone is welcome to enjoy year-round options of indoor and outdoor lounging as well as socializing. The Pool Club and Dreamboat have an impressive calendar of entertainment, which will spotlight the best of Crescent City and national talent.
Both venues have great vibes to offer and you will definitely leave satisfied. The space is expansive and wraps around the building, seating 150 guests. Imagine all of the fun you'd have among that many people with still enough room to live it up. The space has a tasty selection of cocktails, which include the Mai Gai (Coruba Dark Jamaican rum, Rhum Barbancourt 5 Star, tropical orange, Curacao, fresh lime and almond syrup) and the Frozen Lemongrass Paloma (Milagro Tequila, lemongrass syrup and fresh grapefruit). An evening of wine is always good, so the space will have a list of what you have a taste for by the glass and bottle. Beers and other canned alcoholic beverages will be available also.
Chef
Alex Harrell's snacks will probably be the best part of your visit at the
venues—take a look at some of the items:
Smoked Fish Dip, with fennel and celery mostarda and served with Old Bay crackers.
Mushroom
Fritters, served
with a charred green onion remoulade.
Little Gem Lettuces Salad
Avocado Toast, topped with pepitas and butternut squash conserva.
For guests who want to enjoy cocktails and snacks at the bar or cocktail tables, there is no cover charge. So, take a shot to that! Poolside lounge chairs and VIP sofas require reservations. If you're not staying at the hotel but still want to take a swim in the rooftop pool, a $25 Pool Pass is available for you here or at the 13th floor host stand. The Pool Club is open for drinks and delectable foods daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pool pass hours are in effect until 6 p.m.
Dreamboat,
settled comfortably within The Pool Club, has more of a private club feel, yet
is open to everyone. Classic New Orleans cocktails and specialty drinks
include:
Weekend
at Richard's—a
smooth blend of Nelson's Green Briar Whiskey, Apricot Brandy, and fresh lemon
and ginger.
Empress
Tea—featuring
Empress 1908 Gin, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Earl Grey tea, fresh lemon
and grapefruit juice, and house made lavender syrup.
You're encouraged to make reservations for Dreamboat but they are not required. The Pool Club and Dreamboat can be booked for private events. Treat yourself and others for those special occasions. However, upon entry, please have your vaccination card ready or present a negative COVID-19 test.
