Although a lot of us love to read and have books piled up beside our nightstands (and queued up on our Kindles), attending book signings can be rather dull affairs. Admit it, waiting in long lines just to get an impersonal signature from your favorite author will make anyone but the most avid fan breathe a huge sigh exclaiming “I'm so bored!” After all, wouldn't you rather be reading?
Well, next Wednesday, March 12th at 6 pm, a couple of authors are getting together at the Maple Street Book Shop to make you eat those words. Micheal Murphy will be reading from and signing his new book Eat Dat New Orleans: A Guide to the Unique Food Culture of the Crescent City. Plus, local beer blogger Jeremy Labadie, a.k.a. The Beer Buddha, will also be signing his new book New Orleans Beer: A Hoppy History of Big Easy Brewing. Though meeting these two local celebrities and acquiring their books will be a pleasure in an of itself, the event will also feature tasty, gourmet sandwiches from Killer Poboys and a bunch of locally-brewed beer.
