Chance the Rapper and partners in crime the Social experiment (Consisting of four members, Peter Cottontale, Greg Landfair Jr., Nate Fox, Donnie Trumpet, and Chance) released a highly anticipated album last week titled Surf. This is the first of a series of musical projects for the Social Experiment that will highlight a different members musical talent, this one being Donnie Trumpets. Featured guests on the album include Busta Rhymes, B.o.B., J. Cole, Janelle Monae, Big Sean, Jeremih, Erykah Badu, and more.

Although Chance raps on most of the songs, this is very far from a conventional rap album. The compositions and arrangements are extremely deep and complex, immersing your ear drums in a deep, melodic, steady surf of a sound. The songs are trumpet heavy but the notes wane and wax in just the right ways to fit these peculiar yet incredibly whole tracks.

Stand out tracks:

"Nothing Came to Me" / "Something Came to Me"- Heavily jazz influenced, extremely smooth and melodic.

"Wanna Be Cool"- Great beat, catchy hook, and a good message imbedded in this stand out track.

"Sunday Candy" - Fun, fast, and with a kicking gospel bridge, this song is awesome. Accompanied with an awesome video starring Chance and the band, you'll be wearing out this song in no time.
