While most well-known for throwing its extravagant Oktoberfest celebration in the city, New Orleans' Deutsches Haus offers so much more for people to enjoy, especially during the holidays.

The Deutsches Haus' third annual Christkindl Markt (Christmas Market in German) will be taking on December 11 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is set up just like the traditional seasonal markets in Germany, with open-air booths, live music, and food and drinks.

There will be 40 different vendors in attendance, who'll be selling both locally made items and imports directly from Germany. Some of the items will include soaps, scarves, jewelry, and more. Not only that, sausages, mulled wine, hot chocolate, spiced pecans, German fruit bread, and more will be available for anyone looking to eat or drink.

Traditional German music and Christmas carols will be provided by the Haus Band/Kurrende Brass, and there will also be performances by the St. John Handbell Choir, St. Luke's Highway Band, and more. The market will also be visited by St. Nicholas and the Christkind, so make sure to grab a photo with your kids!

The market is free to attend and there will also be free parking on the grounds while space is available. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test is only required for those looking to go inside of the Haus.
