The legendary Dooky Chase restaurant headed by the esteemed Leah Chase was host to the Amistad Reseach Center staff as they touted their upcoming historical event which will take place for a limited audience later this month.

Since the 1960s, the Amistad Reseach Center has collected thousands of documents, pieces of art, photographs, music and more to document and perserve African and African American. The collection has grown through the decades as it has also moved around the country where it found its permanent home here in New Orleans at Tulane University where researchers hope it remains. The Amistad Research Center is an indelible asset to New Orleans, and is an incredible wealth of knowledge for anyone wanting to experience and learn about African and African American arts, culture and life in general.

The Amistad Research Center will be hosting "An Evening in the Chapel" at the Lawless Memorial Chapel at Dillard Univeristy on Friday, September 30th at 6:30 p.m. where attendees will hear music from Deacon John inspired by the Center's wealth of music archives. And the Center invites everyone to experience the collection at any time. It's always free and open to the public.
