There’s gifts, food, drinks, and, as always, music in store for you this week. Save room for some black liquor too!

If you haven’t gotten all of your holiday shopping done yet, you can pick up some great, local gifts on Thursday at the NOLA Green Gifts at the Healing Center on St. Claude Ave. from 5:30 to 7:30. The cost is $20 at the door, or $10 if you have the Life City Green Card.

There’s a party with a purpose at Siberia on Friday night. An eclectic mix of special guests including Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Katey Red, Die Rotzz, Guitar Lightnin’ Lee and many more are coming together to raise funds for New Jersey-based WFMU, the longest running freeform and listener-supported radio station in the country who sustained damage to some of their equipment. The event is sponsored by our local station WWOZ and Euclid Records. Cover charge is a suggested donation of $15 and the show begins at 8 p.m.

The St. Joe Art Lofts located at 923 Constance St. in the Warehouse District is holding a Pop-up Brunch beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The menu by Laura Sugarman consists of mini-bagels, roasted potatoes, French toast and more along with live music and a resident art exposition.  The tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. In the afternoon is our own Where Y’at’s Best Bartender Contest. For a cover charge of $10, you can try the drinks from the three finalists (George Pool, Lauren Soboul, and Corey Fayette) at the Fairgrounds as they battle for the top prize and title. The contest begins at 12:30 and ends at 3:30. Later, is Dash Rip Rock’s CD Release Party for their new album Black Liquor at Siberia at 10 p.m. I had the privilege of hearing them play songs from that album at the Studio in the Country where it was recorded and I definitely recommend this show based on that. Cons & Prose and King Louie’s One Man Band open the show.
