Davell Crawford

My Gift to You

Basin Street Records All-around musical sensation Davell Crawford, is a jack of all trades. With his soulfully charged vocals and his amazing, renowned piano skills, Crawford is an original piece of musical brilliance. Beginning at about the age of seven, little Crawford performed his way up the Big Easy’s musical ladder, displaying his distinctive piano skills alongside major legends such as Dr. John. Crawford is a festival regular and is recognized around the world. He has toured overseas in Europe and South America, where he recorded his hit album, Live in Brazil. Crawford has recorded and has been featured on several albums. His latest album, properly titled My Gift to You, is originally incredible. His stellar piano skills are beautifully complemented by several Crescent City favorites, from Walter “Wolfman” Washington to Nicholas Payton and his amazing vocalists, the Davell Crawford Singers. My Gift to You is truly a gift. It is rhythmic and sultry, almost therapeutic. Crawford intermingles all the ingredients needed to create a standout recording. From his rendition of the New Orleans-based classic song “Southern Girl,” by Maze and Frankie Beverly, to spiritually motivated gospel tracks, Crawford’s latest album is naturally unique. While rooted in the musical city, My Gift To You is more than a display of New Orleansstyled rhythm and blues. Crawford, commonly referred to as “The Piano Prince of New Orleans,” has created an embodiment of contemporary American root music at its fi nest. My Gift to You is an album that is truly his own, a talented magnifi cent display of a true New Orleans piano prodigy. Crawford holds nothing back.
