Recently, the Greater
New Orleans Sports Foundation and R+L
Carriers New Orleans Bowl officials announced the date of the 20th R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
Kickoff is slated to be on Wednesday, December 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the
Mercedes-Benz Superdome. It will be both nationally and internationally
broadcast on ESPN and ESPN Radio. This will be the 20th anniversary of the R+L
New Orleans Bowl, a momentous occasion for all. The bowl will generate
international media exposure for the state of Louisiana and also cause a
positive economic impact. It is reported that the bowl has made an estimated
impact of about $20 million every year so far.
Although we don't know who will be playing in the game yet,
Billy Ferrante, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation's Senior Vice
President/R+L Carriers Bowl Executive Director, is excited for the game. "The
20th R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will certainly look different than years
past, but we are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase New Orleans and
the state of Louisiana to a worldwide audience," he said. Thanks to the rest of
the leadership team and the Sunbelt and Conference USA, Ferrante certainly has
fans looking forward to watching one of the biggest bowls of the season from
their homes.
While fan attendance for the game hasn't been determined
yet, the staff and committees of the Sports Foundation/R+L Carriers are
reported to have been working with state officials, the City of New Orleans,
the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and the Tulane School of Medicine to designate
safety protocols for everyone involved. Without the commitment of many
officials, the game would not be possible. If fans are determined to be allowed
inside to watch the game, tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.
