The locally beloved
library-turned-bar located on Carondelet Street,
Bar Marilou, has officially announced that its doors are open to patrons once
again, as of Wednesday, October 14. Of course, constant and careful attention
will be paid to the safety guidelines laid out by the CDC. Masks will be
necessary as well as social distancing, but anyone who frequents establishments
like Bar Marilou is assuredly an old hand at these practices. If you have yet
to visit, now is a great time to do so. In addition to their reopening, they
are introducing a quicker and trimmer at-a-glance menu going forward.
Part of this new menu is a signature
cocktail pairing that can be tailored to the drinker's request. For $45, the "Deux Fois Deux" menu item can be yours. It comes with two
cocktails of your choice, be they the Tokyo Record or the Brave Margot, as well
as the signature small plates of hors d'oeuvres that Bar Marilou is known for.
Additional bits of food, such as burrata and charcuterie, are available
alongside the Deux Fois Deux special as well.
Reservations, while
not required, are strongly recommended by the staff, considering that seating
will be spaced out and therefore rather limited, in accordance with health and
safety guidelines.
Yet another stylish
piece of New Orleans is opening its doors to public visiting again. It is
especially heartwarming to see Bar
Marilou, as a hospitality establishment, staying afloat
amidst the current crisis almost every foodservice business has found
themselves in as of late. In the larger picture, New Orleans is finally
settling into Phase Three of the general reopening, with more lax regulations
across the board. While the situation is still a constant financial tax on
restaurants, the continual loosening of regulations over time will hopefully
result in more joyful resurrections like Bar Marilou's.
