The Artistry of Childish Gambino
Donald Glover, in what's being hailed as his final world tour under the persona of Childish Gambino, delivered a one-of-a-kind experience in New Orleans' Smoothie King Center on September 7 before postponing the rest of "The New World" Tour in North American for health reasons. A multi-talented artist, he has left an indelible mark in the entertainment industry with his music, acting, comedy, directing, and producing.
Willow Smith, the "Wait A Minute!" singer,
kicked off "The New World" Tour in New Orleans with a performance that was
intimate, sultry-lit, and had a simpler setup, featuring two guitarists. Her
latest album Empathogen, which exudes an alternative, unique rock sound
followed by a delightful tone of raw acoustics, perfectly resonates with
Gambino's distinctive style and passionate performance.
Gambino began his performance suited up with a
helmet backstage by the soundboard, giving everyone a closer experience no
matter where they sat.
His concert was just as much an immersive art
installation as a concert. He performed on an impressive stage setup with
hundreds of lights, lasers, and fog. It's no surprise that Gambino has
experience on screen with his theatrical facial expressions tied to his singing
and unique style of dancing. You could feel him pouring his heart and soul into
his performance, giving it his all. Gambino created an overall artistic
experience for the audience to immerse themselves in their feelings and
thoughts, even after the concert.
