It’s an exciting start to Summer 2014 for shoppers as the new and improved Riverwalk Mall opens this week with great deals on high-end products. You may be busy checking out the stores this Memorial Day Weekend, while also enjoying Greek Fest (my favorite fest of the year), so here are some events to plan for next week.

West Coast hardcore legend Capitalist Casualties headlines a show with three fantastic local bands, Classhole, Most Heinous, and Fat Stupid Ugly People at Siberia on Tuesday at 10 p.m. for $8.

There’s going to be a riot at the Hi Ho Lounge on Wednesday the 28th. Total Riot Records artists Natalie Mae, Blind Texas Marlin, Davis Rogan, and Michah McKee will perform beginning at 8 p.m.

Enter the Dragon’s Den on Thursday the 29th for an industrial show featuring Shrapnihil and 11 After Midnight perform and many DJs will be spinning discs in between sets. Cover is $7.

All those years of drinking beer will come in handy at the Beer Olympics hosted by NOLA Brewing on Saturday, May 31st. For $25 at the gate of the brewery, located at 3001 Tchoupitoulas St. (less in advance here), you’ll receive free NOLA Blonde beer from 1-5 p.m., a 7-dayVIP pass to GymMatrix (to burn off all the beer calories), and entrance into the competition. You must have a team of four members or you can join a team of new friends there. The grueling games include Giant Beer Pong, Flip Cup, Quarters, Crossword Puzzles, and Frisbee Golf among other games. Each member of the winning team will receive great prizes including an engraved steel mug, brewery tab, and more. All proceeds from the competitor charge will benefit the Humane Society of Louisiana. Good luck on getting drunk!
