Hogs for a Cause was a blast! Despite the threat of rain, the new City Park Fairgrounds was teeming with hungry festers lured by the scent of delicious barbeque. I personally loved the Andouille, Green Onion, and Goatcheese Steak Fries. Now, throw out the St. Patty’s green and don the delicate pinks and yellows; it’s Easter weekend! If you aren’t celebrating the holiday, there’s still plenty of secular activities for you to do.

The loveliest ladies, and a few men, of local burlesque will be on hand to help you have fun on Friday for the Good Friday Follies at the Hi Ho Lounge. Bella Blue, Ginger Licious, Ace Falcor, and so many more are stripping, fire dancing, and flying through the air for this inter-troupe show that costs $10 and begins at 10 p.m. There will be a free comedy showcase called Contaminated Comedy at 9 p.m. Just a few doors down at Siberia, Settly & The Disappointments are going to rock the house with Narcissy, Hairy Lamb and D.J. Lingerie at 10 p.m. for $7.

In honor of the highly-anticipated release of the new The Evil Dead film next week, the Krewe of the Living Dead is hosting a Zombie Walk that will slowly wind and drag its way through St. Charles Avenue. Beginning at the Circle Bar at 6 p.m., the zombies are heading down to Avenue Pub and finally will arrive at Eiffel Society where there will be a costume contest for film memorabilia and movie tickets. The Pair-a-Dice Tumblers Brass Band will make the dead dance also. The Krewe strongly suggests Evil Dead themed costumes, but any old zombie will do. And, as always, everyone is invited and the walk is free!

Don’t miss our cover girl’s big bash this weekend! The 30th Annual Chris Owens’ French Quarter Easter Parade on Sunday afternoon. The parade rolls beginning at Canal and Bourbon St. at 1 p.m. If you prefer your Easter to be a little darker, the goth/industrial dance party Attrition is back at Siberia at 10 p.m. The party is free.
